Young Jeezy, aka Jay Jenkins, is an American hip-hop artist hailing from Atlanta. He is one of the main members of the Southern rap group United Streets Dopeboyz of America, and collaborates with Boyz n da Hood and the Black Mafia Family. Young Jeezy is best known for his lyrics, which often portray the grittiness of street life and what motivates young black men who grow up in poverty. In 2001, Young Jeezy released his first independent album, Thuggin Under the Influence, which sold almost 100,000 copies in a single year. Executives at Bad Boy Records noticed him after his second independent release, titled Come Shop wit Me, scored impressive sales. In 2003, Young Jeezy signed on with Bad Boy and released his major label debut, Let's Get It: Thug Motivation 101. The album’s hit single, “And Then What,” reached No. 67 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart.

Since then, Young Jeezy produced hits with rap and R&B artists like Christina Milian, Rihanna, Akon and Usher. He also received multiple Grammy, BET and Ozone nominations in categories like Best Hip-Hop Collaboration and Best Hip Hop/R&B collaboration.
