Wiz Khalifa Concert Tickets

Wiz Khalifa got his start the old school way ... slinging mix tapes. Named an artist to watch by Rolling Stone magazine after his first mixtape release, Khalifa has quickly risen to the top of the game. “Roll Up” to a LIVE performance; get your Wiz Khalifa tickets today!

Cameron Jibril Thomaz, aka Wiz Khalifa, grew up a typical military kid. Though widely associated with the Pittsburgh rap scene, Thomaz actually moved around a great deal in his youth, living in Japan, the United Kingdom and Germany before ending up in Pennsylvania.

Though he moved around a lot, the young MC put pen to paper, writing rap lyrics at the tender age of 9 and by 12, he was cranking out mixtapes in his father’s in-home studio. Khalifa got his start after putting out the mixtape Prince of the City: Welcome to Pistolvania in 2005.

Just a year later he was releasing his debut independent album Show and Prove to rave reviews. Thomaz has had an extensive and successful career in the mainstream hip hop and pop scenes since releasing his debut album through Warner Bros. records in 2006. Over the next few years Wiz worked on singles like “Say Yeah” as well as several other mix efforts. The fresh beats drew attention from major rap and hip hop publications, though he didn’t go mainstream until the Pittsburgh Steelers adopted the track “Black and Yellow” during the 2010-2011 season. The song climbed to the top of the charts and secured Khalifa’s spot within the industry.

In 2010 Wiz performed along with Wu-Tang Clan and Snoop Dogg at Rock the Bells. His career was also bolstered by the release of several non-label mixtapes. After releasing Show and Prove, Thomaz left Warner Bros. Records, issuing the free mixtape Kush & Orange Juice before signing with Atlantic Records. Kush & Orange Juice was a hit in its own right, becoming the number one trending topic on Twitter the day of its release.

Over the next few years Wiz worked on Billboard chart-toppers like “Payphone” and “Young, Wild and Free.” Thomaz has put out multiple studio albums including Show and Prove, Deal or No Deal, Rolling Papers, O.N.I.F.C. and Blacc Hollywood.

A talent that has made his own name while intertwining himself with the old school heavies, Wiz Khalifa is one to watch. Thomaz has also been recognized formally by a number of organizations, winning a BET award for Best New Artist in 2011 and a Billboard Music Award for Top New Artist in 2012.
