Westminster Kennel Club Dog Show
By Linda from Santa Cruz, CA on 2/21/2007
Pros:
Audience Loved It
Cons:
Appalling Benching condit

Although the "show" itself was wonderful, going into the "benching" area to see the dogs was appalling. It was so hot, all the dogs were panting and everyone was pouring water and putting wet paper towels on them to try and cool them. The crowds were horrible and you could barely move and everyone was complaining about the deplorable conditons. AKC should be ashamed for sponsoring a dog event wherein the dogs are treated so horribly. All the exhibitors were also complaining and saying they'd never show there again. A BIG disappointment!

Was a Best In Show Experience!
By sheltiepup from Easton, MD on 2/15/2007
Pros:
Audience Loved It, great
Best For:
All Dog Lovers

Anyone who loves dogs this is the place to be. Westmister AKC has an excellent set up and I especially enjoy the benching area. A suggestion for MSG is to have more gates open for exiting. They try to funnel a large crowd out 1 small area. Also the escaltors were down some of the time.

Westminster Kennel Club Dog Show Tickets

In the world of dog shows, none stand taller than the one put on by the Westminster Kennel Club. Since its first show more than 135 years ago, the competition has been a showcase for some of the most spectacular animals in the world, and anybody who has a love of canines should pick up Westminster Kennel Club Dog Show tickets.

The show was first held in 1877 and was a big hit, and that hasn't changed in the years since. Today, it spans two days in early February and is hosted at Madison Square Garden, one of the world's most famous arenas. The competition is open to dogs of all kinds, though terrier groups have taken home the most titles in the show's history.

The title is awarded to the dog that performs best against certain breed standards. These requirements manifest themselves in a number of different ways, from looks to functionality, but the judgment often provides for some of the most thrilling parts of the competition.

In 2013, the title went to Banana Joe, a 5-year-old affenpinscher, who has already endeared himself to dog lovers across the United States.
