Washington Wizards Basketball Tickets

In the 1960s before they were even known by their Washington Wizards title, the team was making their hometown proud. Originally based out of Chicago, the now East Coast anchored professional basketball team has a history of serious play, leading them to clinch several championship, conference and divisional titles. Will the Wizards take the season? Don't miss a moment of the battle; purchase your Washington Wizards tickets today!

The team traces their roots to Chicago where they got their 1961 start as the Chicago Packers, and after one year they changed their name to the Chicago Zephyrs. From there, the franchise moved to Maryland and became the Baltimore Bullets. Then, in 1973, the franchise moved to Landover, Maryland, and changed their name to the Capital Bullets. The following year, the franchise settled in the nation's capitol under the name, the Washington Bullets.

Similar to any NBA team that has been around the block, the Wizards have rode a tidal wave of ups and downs. The team boasted the most success during the mid to late-1970s, earning multiple conference titles and an NBA Championship in 1978. Bullets fans were certainly motivated through the 1980s until the team suffered multiple injuries at the beginning of the 1989 season, leading them to a 16-game losing streak. Under the orders of then-owner, Abe Pollin, the team went through yet another name change, this time to its current name, the Washington Wizards, after Pollin started to feel uncomfortable about the violent connotation of the name Bullets.

Not only did the name change in the late 1990s, but the team also saw a new star president. Michael Jordan took over as the president of the team in January 2000 before ditching this role and becoming a player for the 2001-02 season. Other notable players who helped build the team include Wes Unseld, Earl Monroe, Moses Malone and Chris Webber.

A great ticket anytime, the reviews declare that a Wizards game is a great experience for the whole family. This NBA season could belong to the Washington Wizards! Make sure you are courtside at Verizon Center with your favorite players when you purchase Washington Wizards tickets today!
