Washington Capitals Hockey Tickets

Getting off to a rough start, the Washington Capitals rebounded hard to grab their fair share of division titles and a championship, leaving their mark on the NHL. The Capitals have always been at home in Washington, snagging top players like Rod Langway and Peter Bondra. For an exhilarating hockey experience anytime, buy your Washington Capitals tickets!

Opening up in 1974, as members of the Eastern Conference, "The Caps" managed to make the NHL playoffs for fourteen years in a row starting in the 1980s. This proved to be the turn-around that they needed in their game play. It might not be much of a surprise that Washington D.C.'s hockey team is named the Capitals, given where the franchise is located. Even though there is certainly plenty to see and do in the nation's capital, picking up Washington Capitals tickets to enjoy a hockey game downtown at the Verizon Center is a great way to embrace the atmosphere of the popular area.

The Caps, as fans have nicknamed the team, are a part of the Eastern Conference in the NHL and became a part of the league in 1974. Since 1999, the Caps have been owned by former AOL executive Ted Leonsis, who made an effort to help turn the team's luck around by recruiting key players shortly after taking command.

Leonsis first hired coach Bruce Bourdeau and then brought on popular players like Alexander Ovechkin, Nicklas Backstrom and Mike Green. Ovechkin's efforts earned him the title of team captain, and during the 2011-2012 season, the team hired Hall of Fame player Adam Oates to act as head coach. The franchise has yet to bring a Stanley Cup title to the city, but has earned a Conference Championship and multiple Division Championships.

Like all the heavy hitting teams on the ice, no hockey team is complete without a fierce rivalry. The Capitals found theirs with the Pittsburgh Penguins, a fight that's been brewing since the 1990s. Get on down to the Verizon Center so you don't miss any of the action.

Fans declare that a Capitals' game is a great, high-energy sporting experience for the whole family! Make sure that you are rink-side with your favorite players! Purchase your Washington Capitals tickets now!
