"The Femmes still have it!
By Jodidiah from Chicago, IL on 8/7/2006
Pros:
Crowd Was In To It, Engaging Stage Presence, Great Encores, Great Sound, Perfect Set List
Best For:
Everyone

The concert was awesome. I have been a fan of the Femmes since 1988 and can say that even 19 years later they still have it together. The Cubby Bear was also an excellent location for this venue.

Violent Femmes Concert Tickets

The Violent Femmes are back and bringing their unique brand of folk punk to audiences around the world. Gordon Gano, Brian Ritchie and Victor DeLorenzo first formed the group in 1981, playing in the streets of Milwaukee, Wisconsin. The group quickly ascended the ranks to garner one of the largest cult followings of the 80s. Don’t miss their reunion tour, buy your Violent Femmes tickets today!

The band’s self-titled 1983 debut album became an iconic record amongst disgruntled outsiders. Songs such as “Blister in the Sun” and “Add it Up” reflected the angst and insecurities of many teenagers during that decade. The Violent Femmes followed up that album’s success with Hallowed Ground in 1984 and The Blind Leading the Naked in 1986.

The group disbanded in 1987 as members pursued side projects. However, just two years later they would get back together to release 3 in 1989 and Why Do Birds Sing? in 1991. The latter featured a cover of the Culture Club’s “Do You Really Want to Hurt Me?” which became a minor hit. Percussionist Victor DeLorenzo left the band in 1993 to be replaced by Guy Hoffman.

Now, more than 30 years since the release of their first album, the Violent Femmes are still playing for adoring fans around the world.
