In the past decade, the Commodores have been a powerful force in the SEC. They have been conference champions six times and conference tournament champions twice, beating teams like the University of Missouri Tigers, the Florida Gators, South Carolina Gamecocks and the University of Kentucky Wildcats. The Commodores have also made appearances at the NCAA national tournament every year since 2006.

The 2012-13 season proved to be one of the most successful in team history. The Commodores earned a record of 54-12, with 26 wins against conference teams. Infielder Tony Kemp, the 2013 SEC Player of the Year, had a batting average of .391, scoring 64 runs through 266 at-bats. He also recorded 13 doubles and six triples. Kemp's teammate and fellow infielder Xavier Turner also had a stellar season with a batting average of .324. He earned 40 runs through 219 at-bats.
