USF Dons College Basketball Tickets

The University of San Francisco (USF) may not have the recruiting pull of teams like Duke or North Carolina, but the Dons have enjoyed a considerable amount of success in their lengthy history. With a long list of legendary players and coaches, the USF program was among the most powerful teams in the 1950s, 60s and 70s, and today USF Dons basketball tickets remain popular items among the team's legion of fans.

The history of USF basketball dates back to 1910, but it wasn't until the middle of the century that the Dons gained the attention of basketball fans everywhere. Under the leadership of coach Phil Woolpert, USF came into its own in the 50s when future NBA legend Bill Russell joined the team. Russell played the game unlike anybody before him and helped lead the Dons to national championships in 1955 and 1956.

Russell's success helped start a new era of dominance at USF. Throughout the 1960s and 70s, the Dons remained a staple of the NCAA tournament and appeared in four more Elite Eights. Though success has been harder to come by more recently, USF still stands out as one of the most historic programs in the country, and it's not a reach to think they can return to previous levels of dominance.
