The Sounds of Animals fighting is the brain child of Rich Balling of Rx Bandits. The group, which consists of a revolving door of artists from groups like Finch, Circa Survive and Atreyu, was founded in the recording studio of Balling in 2004. He brought in various musicians and asked them to improvise for a predetermined length of time. Each artist had no idea how the finished product would sound, but they were nonetheless enamored with the novel idea. In 2005, Balling released The Tiger and the Duke to massive critical and commercial acclaim. In 2006, the collective released its sophomore album Lover, the Lord Has Left Us, once again attracting thousands of fans to its unique sound.
