America's Got Talent has seen some interesting characters over the years, but few are more versatile than the winner of the show's second season; Terry Fator. This Texas-native entertainer doesn't just sing, he also keeps the audience in stitches with his comedy stylings and ventriloquism. Fator won the hearts of the judges and the reality competition's fans, and his victory earned him a place in the famed entertainment mecca Las Vegas.
"We've got one more surprise for you," show host Jerry Springer told Fator moments after he was announced as the winner of America's Got Talent in 2007, according to RealityTVWorld.com. "We know your dream is to play Las Vegas, [so] we're going to make that dream come true. You're going to be playing the Jubilee Theater at Bally's Resort."
These days the comedian can be found entertaining the crowds at the Mirage, where he has been performing for more than three years. Terry Fator tickets continue to sell like he just came to town. Fator's show is somewhat of a one-man variety act, as he introduces 16 different puppets, including Maynard Thompkins, an Elvis impersonator who doesn't know any songs by the King. Not only has Fator mastered the art of ventriloquism, which involved speaking without moving the lips, but he can do impressions as well. To this end, Fator can make his puppets act as though they are famous celebrities such as Lady Gaga, Aretha Franklin and Garth Brooks.
Part of the act intertwines comedy and music, as the comedian, with the help of his puppets, will burst into song throughout the show. His stylings are so popular that Fator even released a two-disc CD titled Horses in Heaven, as well as singles like Christmas in Vegas, and Pass that Bottle, which features country singer Walter T. Airdale, one of the puppet personalities Fator uses in his shows.
Fator's routine is a fun experience for adults and kids of all ages, as the performer manages to dance on the line of politically correct and mildly inappropriate in such a way that makes his show an entertaining experience for Vegas visitors. Many have said that Fator is one of the top ventriloquists in the world, and it takes a real expert to spot any movement on his lips when he brings his puppets to life. |
