Taylor Hicks Concert Tickets

Most fans of "American Idol" remember contestants for their young looks and big voices, but those who grew to love Taylor Hicks most likely noticed him for his raspy voice and gray hair. Though the nontraditional Idol star might have appeared different than other, younger hopefuls, his musical talent stole the show and earned him the title of AI season 5 champion, and fans can see the winner live by picking up Taylor Hicks tickets.

Hicks, who grew up in Birmingham, Alabama, enjoyed listening to the soulful sounds of Otis Redding and Sam Cooke as well as other influential song writers like Van Morrison and Bob Seger. As for his own sound, Hicks credits the great Ray Charles for being his main inspiration. Though Hicks blew judges away during the "American Idol" auditions in 2005, the crooner never had any formal singing, guitar or harmonica lessons growing up.

Prior to Idol, Hicks played guitar and sang in a few bar bands including Passing Through, which made two records, In your Time and Under the Radar. After winning Idol, Hicks released his first single, "Do I Make You Proud," as well as his self-titled, debut solo album, which dropped in 2006.
