They finished their 2013 season by clinching the second ranking in their conference with an overall record of 37 wins and 19 losses while maintaining a record of 18 wins and 6 losses in the Big East. The team has made 19 appearances in the Big East Conference Tournament for an overall record of 32 wins and 32 losses including three big east titles, coming in 1987, 2001 and 2011, respectively. The team wears blue and white, and they made their first appearance in the College World Series in 1964 when six of their members (Jack Tracy, Mike Cadenazzi, Dick Wieczezak, Tom Bongiorno and John Sielski) were all batting over 0.300. The Pirates finished fifth in the series that year, setting a single inning scoring record with 11 runs against the Texas A&M Aggies.
