San Jose Sharks Hockey Tickets

Those brave enough to enter the Shark Tank will need to purchase San Jose Sharks tickets to do so. Formerly titled HP Pavilion, the team calls the SAP Center located in San Jose, California, home. Fans have affectionately nicknamed the facility the Shark Tank to help intimidate rival teams.

The San Jose Sharks, established in 1991, is a professional ice hockey franchise that is part of the Western Conference of the NHL. The Bay Area was home to the California Golden Seals until their departure in 1976, leaving San Francisco and the surrounding area hungry for a hometown professional hockey franchise.

The franchise was almost named Blades, after owners Gordon and George Gund asked fans for help choosing a new name. However, the Gunds felt the name was too heavily associated with violence, so they opted to select the runner-up name, Sharks. This moniker was far more fitting given its proximity to the "red triangle," a geographical area known for its high shark population.

For their freshman and sophomore season, the Sharks scraped the bottom of the league, suffering massive losing streaks and setting several NHL worst records. It wasn't until well into the team's second season, that they posted their first shutout against the Los Angeles Kings. In their third season, the San Jose Sharks finally began to turn their luck around, making it to the playoffs 58 points ahead of their previous season. The team went on to upset the series defeating the favored Detroit Red Wings, before being defeated by the Toronto Maple Leafs in the second round.

In 2002, the team acquired their first division title, defeating the Phoenix Coyotes before taking a tumble in the second round. Meanwhile, the Sharks keep on battling it out on the ice with Dallas Stars and Anaheim Ducks rivals in hope of a shot at the illustrious Stanley Cup.

Ruthless Sharks fans have yet to see a Stanley Cup in the Bay Area, though the team has earned a Presidents' Trophy and multiple division championships - including one during the 2010-11 season. The Sharks also played an impressive playoff series during the 2012-13 postseason match-ups.

Will they return to the playoffs this year? Be there when the Sharks take the ice! Buy your San Jose Sharks tickets today!
