San Francisco Giants Baseball Tickets

The San Francisco Giants are one of the oldest franchises in Major League Baseball, spanning more than 100 years and two coasts. With so much history behind the team there’s never a dull moment at AT&T Park. To experience the excitement for yourself, make sure to buy your San Francisco Giants tickets now!

The Giants franchise started its long history in New York City in 1883 as a team named the Gothams. After acquiring a number of star players from the American Association’s New York Metropolitans in 1885, the Gothams became the Giants to better reflect the caliber of player that was a part of the team.

In 1888 the team got its first taste of victory, winning the National League pennant and then going on to take the World Championship from the St. Louis Browns. In 1889, the Giants were able to repeat the success of the previous year by defending both the National League title and the World Series pennant.

The early 1890s were a tough time for the Giants. The team moved stadiums three times in a single year and the upstart Players League, assembled out of the Brotherhood of Professional Baseball Players union, caused a lot of turmoil within the franchise. In 1892 the Players League went under, returning some of the Giants’ players that left for the rebel league back to their original franchise. During the same year, the team moved in to its permanent home at the Polo Grounds, where it would remain for the next 66 years.

Big changes for the Giants
Between 1892 and 1957, the Giants won 15 more National League titles and five World Series pennants, creating one of the winningest franchises in Major League Baseball. But after 70 years in New York City, the team’s owner Horace Stoneham decided the team was going to join the Brooklyn Dodgers in their effort to bring professional baseball to the West Coast. In 1957, the team officially became the San Francisco Giants.

The move caused commotion within the team and the new surroundings took some time to get used to, as the team didn’t win another World Series until 2010. That World Championship set off a chain reaction, however, propelling the Giants to win both the National League title and the World Series in 2012 and 2014. Now the San Francisco Giants are looking to repeat their success and bring another pennant home to AT&T Park.
