Rise Against=Best night of my life
By maleaha from Lexington, KY on 7/15/2007
Pros:
Crowd Was In To It, Engaging Stage Presence, Great Encores, Great Sound, Interactive w crowd, Perfect Set List
Cons:
Poor lighting
Best For:
Everyone

It was an excellent experience, Bogarts is a small venue so be ready for contact, pushing and moshing unless you stay towards the back. Rise against was at their Peak there where 3 opening bands which I would usually say are to many for a small venue But each and every one had the crowd engaged and involved. The best performance I have personally seen from Rise Against, and best all around concert I have been to in years.

Rise Against Concert Tickets

Hailing from Chicago, Rise Against is one of the most recognizable names in contemporary punk rock. The group uses elements of punk infused with the sounds of classic rock as well as pop to create a unique sound all their own. Over the course of a career that has spanned more than 15 years, Rise Against has released a broad array of music and brought a new generation of fans into the punk rock scene. Known for their energetic stage performances, the band has established itself as a successful touring act both as marquee performers and on the festival circuit. Purchase your Rise Against tickets today to take in this punk rock staple live!

Lineup and early years
Though the band has undergone a number of personnel changes over the years, Rise Against’s most recognizable lineup consists of four members: Tim McIlrath on lead vocals and rhythm guitar, Joe Principe playing bass and singing backing vocals, Brandon Barnes on drums and Zach Blair playing lead guitar and also singing backing vocals.

The group first came together in the summer of 1999. It was born from the dissolution of two other punk bands, Baxter and 88 Fingers Louie. Initially, the members of the new group were Principe and McIlrath as well as Dan Precision on guitar and Toni Tintari on the drums. They called themselves Transistor Revolt before adopting the name Rise Against in 2001. They would release only one self-titled EP, Transistor Revolt, as Tintari and Precision both left the group in the early 2000s for personal reasons.

Commercial success
The group’s first two albums, The Unraveling and Revolutions Per Minute, were released in 2001 and 2003, respectively, under the independent label Fat Wreck Chords. The albums saw moderate success commercially, but predominantly helped drive Rise Against as a popular touring act. In addition to playing a vast amount of opening gigs, the band got one of its first big breaks in 2003 when they were performing on the Vans Warped Tour, a traveling festival of punk rock music and culture. Shortly thereafter, Rise Against left Fat Wreck Chords to sign with the more commercially prominent Dreamworks Records.

Though they would undergo a fair amount of label changes due to a merger between Dreamworks and Interscope, the group continued to release albums regularly across the next decade. Their other studio releases include Siren Song of the Counter Culture, The Sufferer & the Witness, Appeal to Reason, Endgame and The Black Market.

Causes and affiliations
Rise Against has also made a name for itself as a prominent figure in the straightedge scene, with all of its members abstaining from all substance use except Barnes. They are frequent advocates for animal rights, endorsing many of PETA’s projects. In 2007, the group partnered with popular skateboard shoemaker Vans to endorse a sneaker that was entirely vegan and fair trade. They also were part of a number of campaigns that organized against the reelection of George W. Bush in 2004.
