Rio de Javeiro Carnaval Tickets

The Carnaval in Rio de Javeiro, Brazil, is one of the most beloved and well-known festivals in South America. More than two million people attend this celebration that includes parades and dancing. Held immediately before Lent, the Christian season of sacrifice and piety, Carnaval is a symbol of indulgence. To join the party in the one of the biggest cities in the world, purchase your Rio de Javeiro Carnaval tickets today.

One of the most popular parts of Carnaval is a parade that features more than 200 samba schools. The schools compete against each other, and other non-samba schools, at the culmination of the parade. A samba school is composed of a community of neighbors who attend the celebration together. These communities usually have some kind of background - geography or region - in common.

When the time of the parade approaches, the samba schools choose a name or theme. They begin creating colorful costumes, large and ornate floats and dance choreography that represents their chosen theme. Each school has multiple parts as entrants, including six to eight floats and up to 4,000 dancers.

Every school is introduced by a group of 10 to 15 people called the comissão de frente. They are the people who set the mood. The group usually tells a short story through an extravagant song and dance while wearing elaborate costumes.
