Philadelphia Eagles Tickets

The Philadelphia Eagles are a team with one of the most unwavering fan bases in history. Over decades, the Eagles have proven themselves as one of the most storied franchises in the NFL. This team has been a source of pride for the city of Philadelphia, and football fans across the nation come out to see them in action.

The history

The Eagles came to replace the bankrupt Frankford Yellow Jackets in 1933. During the 1940s manpower was short due to World War II and the Eagles were forced to temporarily merge with the Pittsburgh Steelers forming the Phil-Pitt Steagles. At the end of the 1943 season the team was once again split. By the end of the decade the team had made three consecutive playoff appearances.

They established itself as a driving force in American Football by winning back-to-back NFL Championships in the East Division in 1947 and 48. At the time they were the only team to have won successive championship games by shutout. Since then, titles haven’t been so easy for the Eagles. After the merger of the NFL and AFL in the 1970s, the team struggled through most of the next two decades without much to show for their efforts.

The Philadelphia Eagles qualified for six out of the nine seasons during the late 1980s to mid-1990s but it only resulted in one NFC East title. They made it to the Super Bowl twice in 1980 and 2004, losing to the Oakland Raiders and the New England Patriots, respectively. The team has housed some big names such as Ron Jaworski, Reggie White, Randall Cunningham, Ricky Waters and Donovan McNabb, just to name a few.

Of course, a team as great as the Eagles doesn’t get away without making some enemies. The Eagles are known for their intense rivalry with the New York Giants. It was even named the No. 1 rivalry of all time by the NFL Network. That is not all, though. The team is also considered bitter rivals with the Washington Redskins and the Dallas Cowboys.
