Punch Brothers Concert Tickets

The Punch Brothers is a band best known for its fluid bluegrass musicianship and spontaneous, almost improvisational, use of instruments. Songs like "Rye Whiskey" and "Alex" are prime examples of the band's old-time, chamber music sound. Buy your Punch Brothers tickets today and discover one of the best progressive bluegrass groups to come out of Brooklyn, N.Y.

The Punch Brothers formed in 2006 when mandolin player Chris Thile sought to collaborate with guitarist Chris Eldridge. The two went on to find banjo player Noam Pikelny and violinist Gabe Witcher. They began working together for fun, but realized there was a serious instant chemistry to the group. The four acoustic musicians officially called themselves The Punch Brothers and soon released the band's debut album, Punch, in 2008.

Following the success of Punch, the group began working on its next album, Antifogmatic, which released in the summer of 2010. The album focused on the more traditional themes of bluegrass but still retained its progressive bluegrass roots. By 2011, The Punch Brothers had hit its stride and creating music, learning new pieces and performing on stage became second nature. The band created the documentary How to Grow A Band, which explored the tensions between the individual group members.
