Pickwick Concert Tickets

Seattle has been churning out alternative musicians for decades, and while the Washington city may have experienced its biggest cultural boom during the grunge era, there are still many great musical acts emerging from the West Coast locale. This includes Pickwick, an up-and-coming indie soul band that has been turning heads and gaining notoriety across the nation since the group formed in 2008.

"We're six white kids who grew up on indie rock," guitarist Michael Parker told a reporter from The Seattle Times in a recent interview.

The band, which includes Parker and his brother Garrett, Galen Disston, Cassady Lillstrom, Alex Westcoat and Kory Kruckenburg, started out as a strictly Americana indie project. Less than two years after they started, they changed direction and started to infuse soul and the blues into their musical styling, according to the news source. The result is a unique sound that doesn't quite fit into any genre, as it combines modern and classic music stylings in a mix that hasn't really been tried before.

Pickwick can often be found in smaller venues like bars and even the occasional basement, but they are not strangers to the big stage. A few years ago, the group sold out the Neptune Theater, a prominent venue in Seattle. The band has mainly performed on the West Coast, but earlier this year they had the chance to take the stage at SXSW in Austin, Texas. Since SXSW, >b>Pickwick tickets have become in serious demand, and their compilation Myths has been selling well.

Songs like "Hacienda Motel" and "Staged Names" put listeners into a relaxed mood, but they still won't be able to resist tapping their toes or drumming their fingers on the bar as the singer croons over the bluesy guitar riffs and tambourine fills. Not every tune is coated with a layer of melancholy, as the band has a few upbeat offerings like "When Rosa Speaks" and "The Round." The tinkling piano keys and reggae-like guitar are punctuated by a succinct drum track that makes listeners want to swing their hips and nod their heads in rhythm.
