Philadelphia Phillies Baseball Tickets

A baseball team that competes in the heart of Pennsylvania’s capital city, the Philadelphia Phillies are more than an icon, they’re a national treasure. Founded in 1883, the Phillies are the oldest professional franchise in all of sports to have continuously played under one name in the same city. Highly competitive for more than a century, the Phillies are a thrill for fans to take in. If you’re looking for a spectator experience steeped in history, tradition and excitement, purchase your Philadelphia Phillies tickets today!

Early years
The Phillies first came into existence through the dissolution of another professional baseball team, The Worcester Ruby Legs. Acquired by new ownership, the team? was brought into the National League of the MLB and came to Philadelphia. The franchise experienced considerable difficulty during its first season, winning a total of only 17 games out of 98 played. After the 1883 season, the Phillies named Harry Wright, a former player and eventual hall of famer, as manager. Wright’s passion for the game drove the team to new heights over the next decade, bringing notability to the franchise that had started out so slowly. The team’s fortunes were also boosted in the late 1880s with the addition of star players such as Billy Hamilton. Hamilton, as of 2015, still owns the record for most runs scored in one season with 192.

The Philadelphia Phillies have been successful to several different degrees of professional baseball victory.  They’ve been frequent winners of their division, taking home a collective 11 East Division titles as of 2015. The team enjoyed a run of incredible success at this level in the late 2000s, winning the East Division title each year from 2007 through 2011. Similarly, the Phillies have cemented themselves as a powerhouse in the National League as a whole, having earned seven National League pennants between the squad’s inception and 2015. These pennants came in 1915, 1950, 1980, 1983, 1993, 2008 and 2009. Most notably, the Phillies also brought their hometown fans the honor of two World Series titles as of 2015, one coming in 1980 and one in 2008.

Citizens Bank Park
The Phillies compete in Citizens Bank Ballpark. The stadium has become an absolute fixture for baseball fans from across the country, and is one of the most recognizable fields in the league. A structural wonder in its own right, Citizens Bank Ballpark can seat up to 43,651 spectators, not including standing room or optional additional seating. The stadium was first constructed in 2004 and opened on April 3 of that year, following the demolition of Veterans Ballpark, the Phillies’ old arena. In addition to playing host to all of the Phillies’ home games, the stadium was also the location of the 2012 NHL Winter classic, an outdoor hockey game that was played between the New York Rangers and Philadelphia Flyers.
