As a director in Community Theater I have had the privilege of directing this play twice - once each in two local theaters in Delaware. The play has unique charm which traces the metamorphosis of Norman from a grumpy old man resigned to his impending death to the optimistic, happy father to Chelsea (finally) and "grandfather" to Billy, whose character is so skillfully utilized by Thompson to achieve the change in Norman. I would see it again and again - thanks to Tom Bosley and Michael Learned for their warmth and understanding of this work.
