Odesza Tickets

Odesza is the dreamy electronic duo consisting of Harrison Mills and Clayton Knight that has taken the EDM community by storm. This innovative band combines electronic music and an indie spin while incorporating live instruments for an experience unlike any other.

The beginning
The members and creators of Odesza met their freshman year at Western Washington University. The duo both had their respective solo projects before joining forces. For Mills, he was known as CatacombKid, and Knight was known as BeachesBeaches. The two didn’t team up until their senior year of college when they began mixing each other’s music. This allowed for them to curate their own sound and constantly evolve. “It’s kind of like a never ending learning process. I think that’s my favorite thing about collaboration, that you’re always learning from that person,” Mills said to Acclaim Magazine.

After forming the group in 2012, they immediately got to work and made it available to the public. They released their first LP album Summer’s Gone in September 2012. The songs “How Did I Get Here” and “iPlayYouListen” quickly took off and both made it to No. 1 on the Hype Machine Popular Chart. With the album, Odesza quickly garnered a dedicated fan base from all over the world.

In 2013, the duo released EP My Friends Never Die and their success continued, with three of the five tracks hitting No. 1 on Hype Machine. The band began touring and playing numerous festivals including Sasquatch Music Festival and Lightning In A Bottle. In 2013, Odesza was booked to open for the electronic sensation Pretty Lights on his Analog Future Tour in the fall of 2013. On this tour, they were exposed to larger audiences. Pretty Lights, also known as Derek St. Vincent, asked them to remix the song “One Day They’ll Know” while on this tour, and it hit No. 1 on Hype Machine and No. 8 on the iTunes Electronic Chart. The Pretty Lights tour expanded Odesza’s dedicated fan base that continues to grow to this day. The band also crafted a live performance experience to match their recordings. Toward the end of 2013, they rounded up their favorite producers and followed with a remix EP, My Friends Never Die Remixes, and launched their party series of ongoing mixtapes called “NO.SLEEP.”

Continued success
In February 2014, they released the single "Sun Models (feat. Madelyn Grant)," which comes from the band’s forthcoming second album. This song also hit No. 1 on Hype Machine. In March 2014 the duo landed even more success with their remix of Pretty Lights’ “Lost and Found,” making it on the “Divergent” movie soundtrack. They finished up their second album and embarked on a sold out North American tour in Spring 2014. The played Coachella in 2014, where they dropped an unreleased track to thousands of people. They also recruited the University of Southern California Marching Band to their show, a group that is widely considered the best in college football.

The band is constantly asked about where their name came from. It was said that the name was taken from Mills’ uncle’s ship that sank. However, the truth is that when they were trying to come up with a name they were listening to a lot of different electronic artists, including the artist Caribou. They were listening to his song “Odessa” and really liked the name. They later found out that the name was already taken so that added a “z.” The band initially wanted to tell different stories every time they were asked about the name, but they said they ran out early on.
