New Politics, which consists of Soren Hansen, Louis Vecchio and David Boyd, began working together in the early 2000s, testing out the bar and club scenes in its native Denmark. The group migrated to Williamsburg, N.Y., before beginning production on its self-titled debut album in 2010. The album received praise from both critics and consumers, spurring the group to do a 30-date tour of the U.S. New Politics continued to spread its music by opening for 30 Seconds to Mars’ Into the Wild Tour in October 2010.

New Politics’ sophomore album, A Bad Girl in Harlem, was a little more refined than its pop heavy debut. The group talked about its struggles in the industry, overcoming cultural differences, long-distance relationships and creating new identities as a full-fledged alternative rock band.
