The 2012-13 season will see the San Antonio Spurs commemorating 40 years of fierce play on the hardwood. Success has come in abundance to the Silver and Black over the past 15 years. Since Tim Duncan's arrival in the 1997-98 season, the Spurs have captured four NBA Championships. The team also posted a best regular season winning percentage of any team within the four major league sports. Spanning the 15 year epoch, the Spurs have also won nine division titles as well as posting the league's best record four times.
While the Spurs may have rivals in the Dallas Mavericks, Houston Rockets and the Oklahoma City Thunder, their state of play with these fierce opponents reflect the team's be in the now attitude. Starting in the 21st century, the team has posted 50 or more wins in 13 successive seasons, giving them the longest streak of its kind in the history of the NBA.
