The National League of Major League Baseball is made up of 15 teams and is broken into three divisions: the NL East, NL Central and NL West. Each division contains five teams. While organizations have moved, changed names and expanded over the years, one fact remains: games in the National League are always exciting to watch. Be a part of baseball season by getting your MLB National League tickets now.

The Major League Baseball National League is the oldest professional sports league in the world. It was formed in 1876, with its initial competitor, the American Association, forming shortly after in 1882. Eight of the American Association teams transferred over to the National League, a few of which remain there today, notably including the St. Louis Cardinals, Los Angeles Dodgers, Pittsburgh Pirates and Cincinnati Reds. It wasn’t until 1903 that the two leagues signed a new agreement that stated they would each be a major league, and each winning team would go head-to-head in the World Series.

Several teams in the National League have become World Series champions over the years. The Philadelphia Phillies took home the trophy in 1980 and 2008, the Florida Marlins won the big event in 1997 and 2003, and the Cincinnati Reds came out on top in 1919, 1940, 1975, 1976 and 1990.
