“Sigh No More” when you buy your Mumford & Sons tickets today!

Mumford & Sons are recent newcomers to the English music scene, embodying the current West London folk sound. Taking the path less traveled, the four band mates played local clubs, released a limited EP and toured together for almost two years before releasing their debut album in 2009. Don’t miss your opportunity to see one of the hottest new acts before they become too hot to handle; get your Mumford & Sons tickets now!

Formed by five mates in October of 2007, the band consisted of the quartet Marcus Mumford, Winston Marshall, Ben Lovett and Ted Dwane after the release of their first album. Each member played multiple instruments in various other bands until they came together in the budding London folk and bluegrass scene in the summer of 2007. Clicking musically, the longtime friends set out and played a frenzy of shows and tours culminating in an appearance at the 2008 Glastonbury Festival. While playing with other artists in their own genre like Australia’s Laura Marling and Sons of Noel and Adrian, the band also reaches outside of their comfort zone to perform with alternative acts such as Arcade Fire. Possibly a moment frozen in time for the group was when they played with folk legend Bob Dylan on a rendition of “Maggie’s Farm.” Award nominations followed their first full-length album release with chart-topping tunes like “Little Lion Man,” “Winter Winds,” “The Cave” and “Roll Away Your Stone.” The band’s songs build in intensity as they weave their way from note to note and leap from bar to bar.

Within just a few years Mumford & Sons gained a reputation for creating a live concert environment that pulsed with an intoxicating vibe. Reviews from concertgoers shout “amazing,” “unbelievable” and declare that Mumford & Sons is “pure music” that is great for the entire family! Mumford & Sons Biography

Inspired by folk, rock, country, and bluegrass, the London-based Mumford & Sons feature singer/guitarist/drummer Marcus Mumford, vocalist and banjo/Dobro player Winston Marshall, vocalist/keyboardist Ben Lovett, and vocalist/bassist Ted Dwane. The foursome started playing together in 2007 though they were playing with other bands at the time, they bonded over their shared love of rootsy music. Mumford & Sons quickly became a part of London's underground folk scene, which included acts like Laura Marling and Noah and the Whale. By late autumn 2007, the band was writing songs and playing shows frequently, leading to a gig at 2008's ~Glastonbury Festival. That June, their self-titled debut EP arrived, followed by the Love Your Ground EP that December. In May 2009, the Cave and the Open Sea EP was released meanwhile, Mumford & Sons signed to Island Records and worked with producer Markus Drays (the Arcade Fire, Maccabees) on their first full-length. That summer, the single Little Lion Man became the first taste of their new material it was named Hottest Record in the World This Week by BBC 1 Radio DJ Zane Lowe in July. The group was shortlisted for the BBC's Sound of 2009 Poll shortly before its debut album, Sigh No More, was released that winter. It was issued a year later in America on the Glassnote Records label. ~ Heather Phares, Rovi
