Agree with the others. While some of the dancers where clearly very good; the overall production was poor. I have seen better amateur versions. Very poor synchronization, poor props, outdated backdrops, and lack of orchestra (yes, the play a CD recording). Avoid this one, and find a better version.

We went to see the one in Sioux City, IA. This was by far the worst Nutcracker show ever! There were no props, the actors/dancers DID NOT capture our attention, the Sioux City kids were equally horrible (nothing against them but they looked out of place and it shows during the performance), overall a very poor production with an overpriced ticket.

Its two years later and I'm still bothered by the fact this company decieved me with their weasle production. I bought these tickets under the impression (which they deliberately do not clarify) this would be a presentation similar to one I attended at SMU in 1995 which was FANTASTIC and included incredible props, dancers and a full orchestra. I bought the tickets with my wife and then 9 year old daughter in mind who was very much looking forward to it. And to think I almost purchsed two more tickets for the twins. We dressed up and dropped the 4 year old twins with my parents and went to welcome in the Christmas Season with this timeless classic. Most people were dressed to the nines in suits/ties and formal dresses. I recall seeing another father with his two little 5 or 6 year old daughters who were dressed like little princesses. As showtime drew near I continued to peer down into the orchestra pit but couldn't see any bows or instruments and when I asked the seating attendent when they'd start to enter she said they were already there. As time approached and the music began I began to understand that this was going to be an evening chocked full of bait and switch. The Majestic is a charming old faciilty but its FOR RENT by whoever can cover the rental - a revenue generating assett. I learned they have nothing to do with the content or quality of the performance AND when they put me in touch with the Troups representative she told me everyone knows that unless the tickets advertise 'live orchestra' the music is 'always a CD'. I was so livid I could scarcly endure the program which was amaturish at best and employed one or two actual dancers. The rest were local volunteers to flesh out their resumes I guess - and many were children. What a dreadful, shameful ripoff. The money squandered didn't bother me as much as the fact I trusted these scumbags with my daughters experience that night. If they'd have qualified their product realistically the show would never have happened. I'd rather they just sold me the CD they used. Stay away.
