Born in 1983 in Longview, Texas, Lambert spent most of her youth in the Lone Star State, no doubt helping to fuel her passion for country western music. While she began writing her own songs at an early age, her career didn’t gain any large exposure until the early 2000s. After a brief recording stint in Nashville, Tennessee, Lambert returned to Texas to focus on learning more intricate guitar skills and honing her craft. After several years of lessons and practice, she caught the attention of a few record executives who worked in the Nashville area. Through a series of auditions, Lambert earned her first big break, a spot on the singing and songwriting talent competition “Nashville Star.”
Rise to fame
While she did not win the competition, Lambert’s third-place finish on the 2003 season of “Nashville Star” still proved extremely beneficial for her career. Shortly after the conclusion of the program, Lambert signed with Epic Records, marking what would be the first big deal in her career as a professional musician. She began to gain notoriety almost immediately through the release of her first single, “Me and Charlie Talking,” which proved to be a hit. Her debut record, Kerosene, was released in 2005 and became immensely popular in the country community, ultimately selling over 1 million copies and earning a platinum certification.
Other work and critical acclaim
Since the release of her debut record, Lambert has put out at least four other albums. These include Crazy Ex-Girlfriend, Revolution, Four the Record and Platinum, which came out in 2007, 2009, 2011 and 2014, respectively. As of 2015, Lambert has received two Grammy Awards from 12 total nominations. Her record, Platinum, won Best Country Album in 2015, and “The House That Built Me” won Best Female Country Vocal Performance in 2011. Lambert is also notably married to country star Blake Shelton.
