By JCNME from Zion, IL on 10/28/2008
Pros:
Entertaining, Great Opening Acts, Great Sound, Steven curtis's "sermon"
Cons:
Crowd Was Not Into It, Crowd was too laid back, No encores
Best For:
Everyone

a better seating chart pic, i would of rather sat in the orchestra pit but couldn't tell by the seating chart if they were in a sunken area or not and they weren't so they would have been better seats then my second row seats!

Everything Expected And More!
By "C" the musician from Livonia, MI on 7/19/2008
Pros:
Crowd Was In To It, Engaging Stage Presence, Great Lighting, Great Sound, Perfect Set List
Cons:
Too Short
Best For:
Everyone

The show was an extraordinary experience for anyone who loves good music, great messages and life-changing encouragement! My only complaint was the fact that the power went out and all of the surrounding area was without power and the show was cancelled. Yet, the little bit that I did see simply blew me away and I can't wait for the concert to return so that I can experience the real deal! Amazing and greatly recommended!

DTE Theatre must not have paid the bill.
By Judy from Pontiac, Michigan on 7/19/2008
Pros:
Great venue--the best
Cons:
14 power in bathrooms, Don't give us ads, Full power at concessions, No electricityNo concer
Best For:
Everyone

I don't understand how the wonderful starting act of Matthew West could go without a hitch from 7:30 to 8 p.m. But as soon as the stage was set for Steven Curtis Chapman and he finished his first song, the electricity failed. And it kept failing everytime he resumed performing. The crowd was exemplary in their demeanor and behavior throughout the one hour and 40 minute ordeal and then a rep announced the termination of the concert. [...]In all the years that I have attended the Music Theatre, I have never heard of such an occurance happening. It was most disappointing but I think that you will have to agree and appreciate the fine qualities of your audience that day and remember that and encourage more Christian concerts to play at DTE Energy Music Theatre.Sincerely,Judy S. Michael W. Smith Biography

Michael Whitaker Smith became one of the most enduringly popular artists on the contemporary Christian music front and also found considerable success as a mainstream artist. In 1981, he signed to Meadowgreen Music as a staff writer, providing gospel hits to such artists as Sandi Patti, Kathy Troccoli, Bill Gaither, and Amy Grant. His 1983 debut album, Michael W. Smith Project, garnered him a Grammy nomination for Best Gospel Performance. Afterward, he changed musical directions and began recording more rock-oriented music in order to reach a younger audience. As a result, some of his songs became more secular and began breaking through to mainstream audiences. ~ Sandra Brennan, Rovi
