I wasn't familiar with Michael's music until hearing "Everybody On A Move" on the radio and checked out his website. I was turning 52 and was so taken by what I'd heard and read that I ordered tickets immediately as a birthday gift to myself. After listening to "Yell Fire" a few times and watching "I Know I'm Not Alone" I'd fallen for him completely. [...]the concert was phenomenal. Everything I could've imagined and more. Trocaderos Nightclub in downtown Mpls is big with a full balcony surrounding a large dance floor. There were at least 1000 people in the club and packed on the dance floor, but moving as if one body really. We were up on the balcony railing with a great view. The energy between Michael and the band and the crowd was unlike anything I've experienced since I don't know when. Maybe Springsteen in 1978. He truly loves people and loves what he does and the lyrics are so right on and so beautiful. The music is totally infectious and danceable. He's like Dylan and Marley wrapped into one. My only complaint was that with the full volume of the band behind him it was often difficult to understand all the lyrics unless you'd listened to the CD a few times. I now listen to "Yell Fire" almost daily and continue to be moved by this man's courage and talent. This tour will bring him into national awareness in a way that he hasn't been before. If you have the chance to see him perform, go there. The smaller the venue the better, but don't expect to have room to actually dance! just enjoy the groove and know that you're witnessing a social phenomenon.
