Two bands become one
Mayday Parade stemmed from a merger between two bands popular in the Tallahassee, Florida area - Kid Named Chicago and Defining Moment. The original sextet that made up Mayday Parade released a debut EP in 2006 with Fearless Records titled Tales Told by Dead Friends. This work garnered the band regional attention and Mayday Parade went on tour with Plain White T’s to support the record. Comprised of Derek Sanders on vocals, Jeremy Lenzo on bass, Jason Lancaster on vocals and guitar, Jake Bundrick on drums and Alex Garcia and Brook Betts on guitar, Mayday Parade’s alt-pop sound soon earned the band widespread attention.

The group’s debut studio LP, A Lesson in Romantics propelled Mayday Parade into the national spotlight, and the band supported the album by joining the Vans Warped Tour in both 2007 and 2008. During this time, Lancaster left the band to work on other projects, but the five remaining members soldiered onward and soon returned to the studio. Mayday Parade signed on with Atlantic Records, and released Anywhere But Here in 2009. Following the album’s release, the band toured with a number of other renowned punk-pop acts such as We The Kings and The Academy Is...

Hard work pays off
Over the following years, Mayday Parade became recognized as one of the hardest working bands on the road. With nearly 200 tour dates scheduled per year, the band proved to be indefatigable live performers. Mayday Parade released an eponymous full-length album in October 2011, which quickly elevated the band to new heights of commercial popularity. The self-titled work peaked at No. 12 on the Billboard Top 200 and reached the No. 5 position on the iTunes album chart.

Mayday Parade followed up this success with its fourth studio album, Monsters in the Closet, in early 2013. The band supported the album by playing the entire 2014 Vans Warped Tour and continued touring through the rest of the year. The members of Mayday Parade have proven to be consummate road warriors and continue to wow audiences across the U.S. and abroad.
