Madame Butterfly Opera Tickets

The first act of the story takes place in Japan, where a U.S. Naval officer has been betrothed to a geisha named Cio-Cio-San. This woman, known as Madame Butterfly, renounces her heritage in order to bond with her Christian husband, which creates a rift between her and her family. The songs in this act center around the love between Navy Lieutenant B.F. Pinkteron and Cio-Cio-San.

Pinkerton returns to the States, abandoning his wife and unborn child, and the second act focuses on Cio-Cio-San's patience in waiting for Pinkerton to return to her. She rebuffs marriage proposals and clings to the hope that her husband will come back to her. However, unbeknownst to Madame Butterfly, Pinkerton does not intend to return to be with her. In fact, in the third act, his American wife, Kate, is introduced. The ensuing drama in this exotic love triangle is heartbreaking and ends in tragedy, often leaving viewers in tears.
