The Los Angeles Kings, established in 1967, are a professional ice hockey team that are part of the Western Conference of the NHL. The expansion team originally played in the nearby suburb of Inglewood, California, rather than in the city itself. The Kings played in Inglewood for approximately 32 years, before making the move to the popular STAPLES Center in the heart of Los Angeles during the 1999-2000 season.

They played their first game in 1967 against the vigorous Philadelphia Flyers, defeating them and taking the game 4-2. While the team enjoyed initial success in their first two seasons, their performance began to waver by 1972. Tepid play led to reduced game attendance, saturating the market with available Los Angeles Kings tickets. After spending the mid-1970s shoring up their offensive firepower, the team returned to competitive play, making it to the playoffs on several occasions, only to be defeated by powerhouses like the Atlanta Flames and Boston Bruins.

In 1979 the Kings formed the then highest-scoring line combinations in NHL history, referred to as the "Triple Crown Line." Despite the Line's command on the ice, the team could not bust through the first round of the playoffs. Then in 1982, the Kings took down the Edmonton Oilers in one of the greatest comebacks in professional hockey history. While the team never made it past the first round for years to come, a 1988 trade acquiring Wayne Gretzky helped put a light at the end of the tunnel for the Los Angeles team.

The early 1990s proved successful for the franchise, leading them to a division championship win and eventually to conquering the Stanley Cup Finals in 1993. Subsequently, the Los Angeles Kings returned to their ritual first round presence. The team continues to battle it out with rivals San Jose Sharks, Dallas Stars, Anaheim Ducks and Phoenix Coyotes in the hope of regaining the Stanley Cup.

Diehard Kings' enthusiasts earned the thrill of the lifetime when the team skated and fought their way to the top during the 2011-2012 season. The franchise brought home the ultimate prize in the NHL, the Stanley Cup Trophy. With a revamped fan base, more people than ever are purchasing Los Angeles Kings tickets to see if history will repeat itself. Be there to see this season's action unfold LIVE!
