Los Angeles Dodgers Baseball Tickets

The Dodgers have one of the longest histories in baseball, becoming a franchise all the way back in 1890. Originally based in Brooklyn and initially named the Bridegrooms, the Dodgers have been an exciting and accomplished team for more than 100 years. The Brooklyn Bridegrooms earned their name when seven of the team&#rsquo;s players were married around the same time in 1888. However, the nickname Trolley Dodgers was soon given to the team based on the labyrinth of trolleys that covered the borough. The name was shortened to Dodgers and quickly stuck. Now the team has moved to California and you can soak up all the history when you buy your Los Angeles Dodgers tickets now!

The team won the National League pennant in its inaugural season, the first of 21 championships the franchise would go on to win over the course of the next century. The Dodgers went to their first World Series in 1916 before eventually falling to the Boston Red Sox. The team went back to the World Series in 1920, but again were unsuccessful, this time playing against the Cleveland Indians.

A decade of change
The next few decades were tumultuous ones for the franchise, seeing two World Wars, the Great Depression and a variety of changes in team management. In 1947, however, the Dodgers were ready to make a serious run at the pennant with their secret weapon, newly signed phenom Jackie Robinson. The Dodgers were the first team in Major League Baseball to sign a player of color, and the historical step had a great impact on the players, propelling the franchise all the way to the World Series against its rival the New York Yankees. While the Dodgers lost the pennant to the Yankees in 1947, the team was determined to turn its losing streak around when it faced its rivals again in 1955. The Dodgers defeated the Yankees in seven games, winning their first ever World Series.

After winning the World Championships in 1955 and the National League championship in 1956, the franchise delivered some hard news to its devoted fans in Brooklyn: The team was moving to the West Coast. The Dodgers played their first game at the Los Angeles Coliseum on April 18, 1958, defeating fellow New York transplants the San Francisco Giants 6-5. The next year the Dodgers easily swept the National League championship to make their way to the World Series for the fifth time in a decade. The Dodgers faced the Chicago White Sox for the 1959 pennant and brought the title home to LA after six games.

Looking toward the future
The Dodgers went on to win the World Series four more times, in 1963, 1965, 1981 and 1988. The Dodgers are eager to make another trip to the World Championship, and the team consistently wins the National League West Division title, as it did in 2014. The franchise is looking to add another pennant to its collection, and this is the year to do it. If you’re looking to see some great baseball and join in the race for another World Series title, make sure to catch a game in beautiful Dodgers Stadium!
