ok i took a chance and went. i have not laughed that hard in a long time. It is very refreshing to see and hear these very talented AND BRAVE comics doing their thing w/o being censored. Lavelle had me hollering so loud the usher asked me to chill out. and Gerry and Doug equally should have been chosen because they were off the hook. Stupidest thing i did was not purchase the DVD they sold after the show..now i wont ever be able to hear those jokes again(L for my 2.4 cents spend the money and treat yourself to 2008's show...it is worth the trip to downtown b-more.
Besides the fact the facility served no alchol and only two in a half of the comedians were worth a laugh we did have great seats. I thought the female comedian was rude and crude and even one audience member screamed out NEXT! The MC of the show was great and the comedian from Canada who was a teacher should have won the television series and could of done the whole show by him self!
Although I loved seeing the "Top Five" Performers from Last Comic Standing, (Doug Benson filled in for honeymooning John Reep,) I was surprised that most of them had no new material. Ralph Harris was hilarious, but covered all the same bases. Doug Benson was the only one with completely NEW material, and I laughed out loud. Amy Shumer dropped the ball completely. The audience rarely laughed whole-heartedly, although her delivery is one of perfection. Gerry Dee, gotta love his teaching and wedding jokes. Even though I've heard them already, still funny as ever in person. Levelle Crawford. His diabetes joke was funny the first time, but I didn't want to hear it again. He seemed very bitter that he came in second. Overall, I enjoyed being there, but I felt like I was just watching Last Comic Standing Reruns in person. They could have put a big monitor on the stage and replayed the show, and I could have heard the same jokes over again. WRITE NEW JOKES EVERYBODY! Use your time on the plane to the next gig to think of something else funny to say.
