In the beginning
All three members of Lady Antebellum have roots deeply embedded in the music industry. Charles Kelley is the brother of country artist Josh Kelley, and shortly after moving to Nashville in 2005 convinced his old schoolmate Haywood to join him so they could write music together. Scott, on the other hand, is daughter of country singer Linda Davis. Scott met her two future bandmates in a Nashville music club after recognizing Kelley, and the three soon started harmonizing and playing music together. They adopted the name Lady Antebellum after photographing houses from the Antebellum era.

The trio released a self-titled debut in 2008 after releasing the single “Love Don’t Live Here.” The record quickly went platinum and earned Lady Antebellum its first Grammy nomination. Having experienced both commercial and critical success, the band remained patient while putting together the next album, Need You Now. This sophomore record was released in 2010, led off by a single with the same name. Need You Now promptly sold more than 3 million copies, and Lady Antebellum earned five Grammy Awards shortly thereafter, sealing the trio as country all-stars.

Ongoing success
The success of Need You Now was only the beginning for Kelley, Haywood and Scott. During this period, the trio had several nationally televised performances. Besides making a couple appearances on the popular reality television show “American Idol,” Lady A also sang the National Anthem during game two of the 2010 World Series and performed at the Country Music Awards. Lady Antebellum soon returned to the studio and by 2011 had polished up its third album, Own the Night. The single, “Just a Kiss,” crossed over to reach the No. 1 position on Billboard’s adult contemporary music chart. Overall, Own the Night garnered a slew of accolades and further bolstered the band’s credentials as a critical success. The album’s success spurred the band’s 2012 We Own The Night World Tour - their first run as a headliner.

Lady A’s We Own The Night Tour welcomed over 1 million fans throughout 11 countries, earning the group Billboard Touring’s “Breakthrough Award,” CMA’s International Artists Achievement Award, and led to the 2013 introduction of their Take Me Downtown Tour with Kip Moore and Kacey Musgraves. In October 2012, Lady Antebellum then released a Christmas album, On This Winter’s Night

The trio’s fourth album Golden, released in May 2013, featuring the hit single “Downtown” spurred the 2013-14 tour’s name. “Goodbye Town,” another Golden single quickly gained considerable airplay.
