La Boo-heme
By PRESIDENT MERV from new york city on 10/17/2010
Cons:
Bad Singing

One of the lead sopranos was awful, and the tenor making his debut was just okay--nothing special.

It doesn't get any better than Puccini's La Boheme at the Met. One of the greatest operas and a classic production. The Metropolitan Opera's sets for this opera are the most beautiful I've ever seen.

La Boheme Theater Tickets

La Boheme is a beautiful opera consisting of four different acts, all of which are tied together through romance and song. The music for this show was written by celebrated composer Giacomo Puccini and is the most performed opera at the Metropolitan Opera House in New York City. According to the Met, this production may be one of the world’s most popular operas. Pick up your La Boheme tickets to be immersed in powerful vocals and an intriguing story line.

The plot is centered around a community of artists in Paris and focuses on the romantic relationship between a poet named Rodolfo and a French working class woman named Mimi. La Boheme also targets the little details in life that can have great impact, like the chance meeting of a neighbor.

This production first hit the stage in 1981, and was just as big of a hit back then as it is today. Italian composer Puccini was attributed to the realism trend in this show, sticking to a theme called Il tabarro, which means "He who has lived for love, has died for love." Also helping to make this opera a reality are librettists Giuseppe Giacosa and Luigi Illica, conductor Nicola Luisotti and production manager Franco Zeffirelli.
