The Kansas City Chiefs are members of the West Division of the AFC in the NFL. Since 1972 the team has been playing on their home field of Arrowhead Stadium, which is also a popular venue for many of the Big 12 college football games. Established in 1960 the team was originally known as the Dallas Texans and shared the Cotton Bowl with city rivals the Dallas Cowboys for three seasons. After relocating from Dallas to Kansas City, Missouri, the team became one of the strongest in the AFL, sending demand for Kansas City Chiefs tickets sky high. In 1969 the Chiefs took home the glory of the Super Bowl title in the last game before the AFL merger with the NFL. Winning only seven games in their first season in the NFL, the merger was not kind to the Chiefs. For the remainder of the 1970s the team struggled and would not head to the Playoffs again until the late 1980s. Subsequently the KC Chiefs made several management changes and in less than 10 years the team had a complete renovation, clinching seven Playoff berths. A renewed team spirit brought on improved division rivalries with the Denver Broncos, Oakland Raiders and San Diego Chargers. The Chiefs have earned many division championship wins and made several Playoff appearances, though they have yet to clinch that coveted Super Bowl title post NFL merger.
