Playing their home games at Arrowhead Stadium, the Kansas City Chiefs have one of the best home field advantages in the National Football League. A raucous crowd of 76,000 fans makes it a difficult place to play, and anyone who has picked up Kansas City Chiefs tickets can attest to the fact that it's one of the best venues in the country.
Of course, the Chiefs have more than just an iconic stadium; they also have a long history of success. Throughout the 1960s, they won three AFL championships, and then played in the first Super Bowl, eventually falling to the Green Bay Packers. However, they captured a Super Bowl title of their own in 1970 when the Chiefs, led by quarterback Len Dawson, beat the Minnesota Vikings 23-7.
The Kansas City Chiefs are members of the West Division of the AFC in the NFL. Since 1972 the team has been playing on their home field of Arrowhead Stadium, which is also a popular venue for many of the Big 12 college football games. Established in 1960 the team was originally known as the Dallas Texans and shared the Cotton Bowl with city rivals the Dallas Cowboys for three seasons. After relocating from Dallas to Kansas City, Missouri, the team became one of the strongest in the AFL, sending demand for Kansas City Chiefs tickets sky high. In 1969 the Chiefs took home the glory of the Super Bowl title in the last game before the AFL merger with the NFL.
Winning only seven games in their first season in the NFL, the merger was not kind to the Chiefs. For the remainder of the 1970s the team struggled and would not head to the Playoffs again until the late 1980s. Subsequently the KC Chiefs made several management changes and in less than 10 years the team had a complete renovation, clinching seven Playoff berths. A renewed team spirit brought on improved division rivalries with the Denver Broncos, Oakland Raiders and San Diego Chargers. The Chiefs have earned many division championship wins and made several Playoff appearances, though they have yet to clinch that coveted Super Bowl title post NFL merger.
While they have not recaptured the long string of success they enjoyed in the 1960s and 70s, the Chiefs have still been a perennial contender over the years. Throughout the 90s and 2000s, they had some of the most exciting offensive players in the league such as Tony Gonzalez, Larry Johnson and Priest Holmes.
With a storied tradition, loyal fan base and famous stadium, the Chiefs will be near the top in the AFC West for years to come. Tackle your chance to see them play in-person. Buy your Kansas City Chiefs tickets today!
