Josh Kelley Biography

Consider Josh Kelley a fan of Napster. The Georgia native was studying at the University of Mississippi and writing songs on the side when, in a happy Internet accident, some MP3s of his work made their way onto Napster and into the hands of an A&R rep for Hollywood Records. Kelley eventually signed with the label and released his debut album, For the Ride Home, in June 2003. The album slowly built steam, with listeners responding well to Kelley's affable, John Mayer-ish sound. Amazing fared well as a single, landing on the soundtrack to the Kate Hudson vehicle Raising Helen and earning heavy airplay on Top 40 radio. Kelley returned in August 2005 with Almost Honest, which produced another Adult Top 40 hit with Only You. Just Say the Word followed in 2006.

Soon after Just Say the Word's release, Josh's younger brother, Charles Kelley, began earning his own fans as a member of Lady Antebellum. Josh continued focusing on soulful pop music in 2008, releasing three albums -- Special Company, the digital Backwoods, and the Target exclusive To Remember -- before embracing his Southern roots and signing with MCA Nashville in 2009. Georgia Clay, his seventh solo effort and first country album, appeared two years later. ~ Johnny Loftus, Rovi
