John Was Great ~ Seattle Venue Terrible

The low rating is NOT because of John Hiatt's performance, he and his band were absolutely fabulous, but rather because Woodland Park Zoo confines the sound to a low volume, and I was even near the front. It's outside and in among residences but, c'mon, the show was 6 to 8 pm. It was ridiculous. John, please come to Arlene Schnitzer in Portland, Oregon, next time :D

I am a die hard John Hiatt fan and this was my first time seeing one of his shows up close. He's not only a great singer/songwriter but quite humorous with his between song stories. My only disappointment was that he didn't perform about 100 more songs! PS: I wonder how many of the wine-and-cheese crowd complained to Ravinia about several F-bombs uttered by Hiatt during a few of his stories.

This concert was one of the best I've attended this year. Everything was perfect; the weather, the music, the venue, the people. I will definetly go to see John or Shawn again. I will also start going to concerts at the Botanical Gardens.

Over the last 40 years, few musicians have covered as much artistic ground as John Hiatt. The singer-songwriter is one of the most talented performers in the industry, and has formed a large fan following. With a distinct sound and an impressive string of albums, it's no wonder John Hiatt tickets remain popular items.

Hiatt's first exposure to the music industry was as a songwriter, and he got his big break when he penned the tune "Sure As I'm Sittin' Here." The song was a hit for classic rock stars Three Dog Night, which earned him a recording contract of his own. After some early struggles, by the 1980s Hiatt started to establish himself as one of the most unique talents in music.

Over the next several decades, Hiatt experimented with a number of different sounds and styles, and in 1987 he released his first big hit album Bring the Family. The record included a number of well-known tracks including "Have a Little Faith In Me." While Hiatt toured on his own, he also shared festival stages with Sting, Robert Cray and Del McCoury.

Hiatt has been remarkably consistent ever since, producing album after album throughout the 90s and 2000s including 2011's Dirty Jeans and Mudslide Hymns, where he returned to his country and folk roots.
