Starship at Wisconsin Dells
By dancaw44 from Wisconsin on 11/14/2011
Great Sound
Too Short
Best For:

Attended the Starship concert in Wisconsin Dells on Nov. 12, 2011. I was all geared up and ready. The first thing I noticed was the group rolled through the first four songs pretty fast which led me to believe there would be much music. The concert ran 1 hour 15 minutes to the first encore which they came back out and sang "built this city". Then that was it. Stephanie stayed out to the edge of the stage to take pictures and sign autographs. Then Phil came out to talk to us and sign autographs. The rest of the band didn't seem too into it and wouldn't come out to see the fans. Not sure why, but I was a little disappointed to say the least. All-in-all it was still an OK concert. Not the greatest by any means.

Wow! Smart music for the mind

Engaging Stage Presence
Small crowd, Too cold no heating
Best For:
The very familiar

The show was a "5" because they performed songs that represent them at their musical highs, not necessarily their commercial highs. The soul of the Starship and Paul Kantner's finest songs were hilighted, and thus I rate it a "5"

Jefferson Starship Concert Tickets

As a reincarnation of the hit psychedelic rock group from San Francisco Jefferson Airplane, Jefferson Starship found its own success during the late 1970s and early 1980s. The original group was known for such 1960s hits as &quo;Somebody to Love” and “White Rabbit.” However, by 1970 that group was falling apart, and guitarist/singer Paul Kantner was releasing his own solo album Blows Against the Empire. That album included many of Kantner’s friends from groups like the Grateful Dead and Crosby, Stills & Nash. It was with this album that the name Jefferson Starship first appeared, though no such permanent entity existed at the time. It would be four more years before Kantner could assemble the group that would eventually become Jefferson Starship.

After their debut tour in 1974, the group went on to make their most successful album of all - Red Octopus. The success of that album was due in part to the ballad “Miracles” - which signaled the band’s turn into more commercial territory. Ever since, the band has been regarded as a foundational part of 70s arena rock. Get your Jefferson Starship tickets and experience what made the band famous.
