Jeff Dunham is one of the most recognizable stand-up comedians in both the U.S. and Europe, lauded for reviving the art of ventriloquism. Known for his curmudgeonly insulting puppets, Dunham has made numerous television appearances on programs such as the “Late Show with David Letterman,” “Comedy Central Presents” and “The Tonight Show Starring Johnny Carson.” Dunham also has six specials on Comedy Central and has become recognized for his cast of characters including Walter, Peanut, Bubba J and Melvin the Superhero Guy. Buy your Jeff Dunham tickets now to enjoy one of the world’s finest ventriloquists and comedians!

An early start
Dunham was adopted at 3 months old and grew up in Dallas, Texas. He received his first ventriloquist dummy at age 8 as a Christmas present, and soon began mastering the art and performing locally. In high school, Dunham’s talents garnered him a commercial for a Datsun dealership. By the time he graduated, deciding to attend Baylor University, Dunham’s talents were in high demand. During his time at Baylor, he kept a rigorous tour schedule and began developing a more widespread reputation.

As Dunham was refining his performance, he developed three of his most recognizable characters: Walter, Peanut and Jose the Jalapeno on a Stick. He was asked to perform on Broadway in a show starring Mickey Rooney. Dunham graduated from Baylor in 1986, and then made comedy a full-time job.

Rise to fame
As the 1980s came to a close, Dunham moved from his home in Texas to Los Angeles to focus on honing his act. While he did not experience immediate success, much due to a negative perception of ventriloquists within the industry, he was soon offered a slot on “The Tonight Show Starring Johnny Carson.” This too did not seem to be Dunham’s big break, but he made repeat appearances on the show and on various other television programs, continuing to tour all the while.

Years of touring clubs finally began to tire out the comedian and in 2005 he produced his own performance DVD, “Jeff Dunham: Arguing With Myself.” Comedy Central aired the show in 2006 and more than 2 million people viewers tuned in to watch Dunham’s act. This was complemented by tremendous DVD sales of the performance, and Dunham was solidified as a comic superstar.

From there Dunham’s road to success continued, and today he is one of the highest grossing comics in the U.S.
