Ian Anderson Concert Tickets

There once was a time when people did not associate the flute with rock music, but that was before Ian Anderson. Most famous as the lead singer of Jethro Tull, he is among the most talented musicians still performing today, and picking up Ian Anderson tickets offers fans the chance to see a truly innovative show.

Ian Anderson made a name for himself as a founding member of the band Jethro Tull. The group, which formed in 1967, also consisted of Martine Barre (who replaced original guitarist Mick Abrahams in 1969), Doane Perry, David Goodier and John O'Hara.

Anderson first entered the music world with dreams of being a legendary guitar player, but he abandoned that quest in the 1960s in favor of the flute, a move that certainly paid off. By the middle of the 1960s Jethro Tull had started to coalesce, and with the release of 1971's Aqualung, the band hit it big. The album's success helped pave the way for Anderson's solo career.

The British band originally focused on blues and rock and roll before mixing in folk, jazz and harder rock as they grew more popular. Like many musicians, the group started to tire of making music together and began to work on solo projects - always getting back together to rock out later on. Anderson remained one of the only original band members to stick with Jethro Tull.

Anderson made his solo debut with the release of the 1983 album Walk Into The Light. While it only performed modestly on the charts in both the United States and U.K., it earned positive reviews from critics. Still, it would be 12 years before he released his next solo album. Since 2000, Anderson has been focused on his solo career.

Anderson had a slew of hit records including 1983's Walk into Light, followed by 1995's Ian Anderson: Divinities - Twelve Dances with God and 2000's The Secret Language of Birds. Anderson has continued to venture out on his own, releasing Rupi's Dance in 2003, Ian Anderson Plays the Orchestral Jethro Tull in 2005 and Thick as a Brick 2 in 2012.
