I Love Lucy Live on Stage Theater Tickets

Lucille Ball and Desi Arnez wooed the nation in the hit 1950s sitcom "I Love Lucy." The classic TV show was a half-hour filled with slapstick comedian and snarky husband-and-wife banter that ran for six seasons from 1951 to 1957. The show focused on the antics of Lucy, as she constantly got herself into comically awkward situations trying to break the mold of housewife that her husband, Ricky, so desperately wished she would stay in.

Even though the sitcom has been off the air for more than 50 years, Lucy and Ricky Ricardo and their cohorts, Fred and Ethel Mertz are still beloved characters. In fact, their presence in the world of entertainment was missed so much that they are making a comeback, but this time the kooky characters will be getting into trouble on stage in the live rendition of the 50s TV show.

"There will never be another television character like Lucy Ricardo," said director Rick Sparks. "We recognize that there was only one original cast, so we're not going to attempt an impersonation of their immense talents. Our task is to send a valentine to the unforgettable residents of 623 E. 68th Street, as well as to the fresh style and commercial awakening of early 1950s television. Our plan is to honor and celebrate this iconic show, and that experience will begin the moment audiences step on the sidewalk in front of the theater."

With an all new cast, "I Love Lucy Live on Stage" brings the magic of the hit sitcom to the theater. Not to be mistaken as a recreation of the original show, the stage production is told through a realistic viewpoint. The musical is essentially a chronicle of the filming of two separate episodes of the show, allowing viewers to get a glimpse of the actors when the cameras are off. The same silly antics and misadventures that made the show famous are threaded into this show, and there are scenes that take place in the Ricardo's apartment as well as at the Tropicana Nightclub where Ricky performs.

The stage show also includes reproductions of commercials from the 50s and a television studio host who makes the audience feel as though they could be watching a taping of the classic sitcom.
