Great Music at Carnegie Hall
By wilwil from NY,NY on 6/25/2008
Pros:
Great Sound
Cons:
Crowd Was Not Into It, Poor Set List
Best For:
Everyone

Carnegie Hall was the best thing about this perfomance. Herbie Hancok was and is a genius of a performer however it is well past his time and seemd sort of funny watching some one who was once considered The future of jazz become more and more like a museum .Miles would have booed.....

Herbie Hancock Concert Tickets

Herbert "Herbie" Hancock is an American jazz musician who helped redefine the genre’s rhythm section as a member of Miles Davis’s Second Great Quintet. He is widely considered to be one of the architects of the post-bop sound, and he was a pioneer in combining jazz with synthesizers to create funk music beats. Join jazz lovers across the nation for a night of cool melodies and funky soul. Buy your Herbie Hancock tickets today.

Hancock started his music career at the age of seven and was quickly recognized as a classical music prodigy. In 1952, he played the first movement of Mozart’s Piano Concerto No. 26 at a concert when he was only 11 years old. As a teenager, he heard the preeminent jazz musician Chris Anderson play and requested to be Anderson’s a student.

In 1962, he recorded his first solo album, Takin’ Off, which caught the attention of Miles Davis. Hancock joined Davis’ quintet and worked with bassist Ron Carter, drummer Tony Williams and tenor saxophonist Wayne Shorter. The group performed together from 1963 to 1968, and it is often cited as one of the best jazz ensembles in the genre’s history.
