I saw the US Touring Production of Hairspray and not only was it good theatre, but it left every audience member with an upbeat message and smile at the end! The most energetic cast I have ever seen in a profesional equity production! The tickets were of an acceptable/reasonable price. The only problem was that from my seat, I could not see the right side enterances and could not see about one sixth of the right side of the stage! I was in row 7, so what I could see, I saw very well. I just wish that they had told me when I bought the ticket at the box office.
We are from Minnesota and totally enjoyed this musical. We come to New York every fall and have seen a lot of Broadway hits. This was right up there with "Wicked" in our book. A lot of excitement. We started smiling as soon as it started.
The show Hairspray was better the second time around because I had fabulous seats and could really see so much of the actors expressions and almost feel their sweat! Also, Ashley Parker Angel was quite easy to look at!! The performance was spectacular and I don't even prefer musicals!
This show is alot of fun for the whole family!! It keep the attention of my 13 yr. old daughter to the very end.
