The Warriors first existed as the Philadelphia Warriors based out of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. They were founded in 1946 as members of the Basketball Association of America (BAA) before it morphed into the National Basketball Association (NBA) in 1949. 1962 saw the team relocate to San Francisco, California, before finding its current home across the bay in 1971.
