I've been a Clapton fan since Cream so when I had the chance to see him, I had no choice. Hell, I named my son after him. He played Nashville with Roger Daltry (lead) and special guest Vince Gill on 27.02.10. I wasn't into Gill until he cranked it up. Wow, he and Clapton rocked the house. Eric played for two hours. Only bad thing was the encore (just one song). He didn't play all of his music but it was great. Hope to see him again someday.

Eric Clapton Concert Tickets

One of the most influential musicians of the 20th century and arguably one of the greatest guitarists of all time, Eric Clapton has achieved rock immortality through a career spanning more than 50 years. Known predominantly as a blues guitarist with rock inflections, Clapton has offered up numerous versions of his signature style to audiences over the world. Throughout the course of his time as a musician, he has played regularly as a solo artist and with countless bands of international repute. Among these acts are such names as Cream, The Yardbirds, Derek and the Dominos and Blind Faith, all of whom have been commercial successes. Lock down your chance to experience this musical legend live by purchasing your Eric Clapton tickets today!

Beginnings
Clapton was born in Surrey, England, on March 30, 1945. From a young age he experienced considerable family difficulties. His mother had him at the age of 16 and was a single parent, leaving him to be raised by his grandparents. For much of his childhood he was of the impression that his mother was actually his older sister, only discovering later in life the truth about his origins. When he was 15 years old, in a move that would alter the course of his life, music and the world at large, Clapton first began playing guitar. From that moment on, nothing would be the same for the young man.

By the time the early to mid-1960s rolled around, Clapton was a regular at numerous clubs around England. During this time, often labeled one of the most important periods in the formation of rock ’n’ roll as we know it, he played with other soon-to-be stars such as members of the Rolling Stones. As he proceeded to make a name for himself, Clapton came to be recognized by others in the musical community. He played a few years with The Yardbirds, beginning to hone his sound as a blues guitarist, ultimately leaving the band and joining the group Cream shortly thereafter.

Career
His first solo album, eponymously titled Eric Clapton was released in the early 1970s, boosting Clapton’s recognition in America and ultimately leading to him joining Derek and the Dominos as a lead vocalist. Though the group only released one studio album, Layla, it was an incredible success, driven predominantly by the title track. “Layla,” to this day, is considered one of Clapton’s most brilliant works and is held among the elite tracks in the canon of blues-inspired rock music.

The next few decades for Clapton were a series of conflicting events. While he experienced incredible commercial success throughout the release of solo albums including Another Ticket, Slowhand, Backless and 461, he also struggled from addictions to heroin and alcohol. Following the divorce from his then wife, Patti Smith, in 1979, Clapton entered rehabilitation. Tragically, his four-year-old son, Conor, died in 1991 after falling out of a window in his mother’s apartment in Manhattan. That horrific event served as the inspiration for one of Clapton’s most famous tracks, “Tears in Heaven.”
