When it comes to making music that speaks to a generation, famed artist Emmylou Harris certainly fits the bill. The crooner, who's been making records for decades, has proved her passion throughout her entire career.
Harris spent much of her childhood in North Carolina, before moving to Woodbridge, Va., where she graduated at the top of her class. Despite being book smart, Harris decided to take a dramatic scholarship at the University of North Carolina to hone in on her true love - music. There, she was able to listen to and learn how to play songs by the legendary Bob Dylan, before moving to New York to sing folk and club music on her own.
After a shaky start to her career - she got pregnant while making her first record, Gliding Bird, before her label went under - she was able to eventually make a name for herself in 1971. Since then, she's released more than 10 albums and worked with icons including Bob Dylan, Willie Nelson, Dolly Parton, Elvis Costello, Peter Gabrielle, U2 and Neil Young. With such a seasoned and impressive resume, it's no wonder crowds buy Emmylou Harris tickets to see this legend perform live. |
